A pass is one purchase that covers several performances of the same show at a single price — a two-day pass, a weekend pass, a full-festival pass. The buyer picks seats for every date the pass covers in one go.

Before you start

Passes only cover performances of the same show (the same series). Every date the pass should include must already exist, so add them all on the Create Event form with Add Another Occurrence before you build the pass. See Creating an event.

Creating a pass

  1. Open any performance of the run and click Edit details.
  2. Open the Multi-Day Event Passes (Optional) card.
  3. Click Add Pass.
  4. Fill in the Pass Name — this is what buyers see, so make it say what they get: 2-Day Pass, Weekend Pass, Full Festival.
  5. Fill in the Pass Price — the whole price for the pass, not per night.
  6. Under Applicable Dates, tick every performance the pass is valid for. Each date is listed with its day, date and start time.
  7. Click Save Changes.

Passes belong to the show, not to one date, so a pass you add here appears on every performance it covers. You only have to create it once.

The bin icon at the top right of a pass row deletes it.

What the buyer sees

On a show with passes, the public page grows a Choose Your Tickets block above the seat picker, with one choice per pass plus Single Event Tickets ("Purchase tickets for this date only"). Each pass shows its name, its price, and how many performances it covers.

Pick a pass and the seat picker switches to covering every date in it — the buyer chooses their seat for each night in the same flow and pays once.

Passes across the admin

  • Each performance's page counts the pass's ticket for that date. A two-night pass appears on both nights' pages, with one ticket counted on each.
  • The attendee list for a night shows the pass holder like any other ticket for that night.
  • Refunds are per performance. Cancelling one night and refunding it returns only that night's share of a pass and leaves the pass valid for the other nights — the refund dialog counts those orders separately and says so. See Cancelling a show and refunding every order.

Price the pass deliberately against the sum of its nights. Noctern charges exactly what you type in Pass Price — it does not work a discount out for you, and it does not stop you pricing a pass above the cost of buying each night separately.

Removing a date from an existing pass does not change passes already sold. Those buyers keep the nights they bought. Check sales before editing a pass that is already on sale.

Try it yourself

Create a test show with two dates, then add a "2-Day Pass" covering both at a price just under two single tickets. Open the public page for the first date and confirm the pass appears next to Single Event Tickets, with "Access to 2 event(s) in this series".
