Venue Admin

Noctern connects to several external services. Some you configure yourself from your venue's Edit page; others are switched on for you.

Payments (Stripe)

Every venue on Noctern accepts card payments through Stripe. By default Noctern is the merchant of record: Noctern collects the money and pays your venue after each event.

The Payments card on AdminVenues[venue]Edit shows which arrangement you are on and, if you are on your own Stripe account, its onboarding status. Switching a venue to its own Stripe account is done by Noctern — ask Noctern support if you want to be your own merchant of record. See "How your venue gets paid" for what changes when you do.

If there is no Payments card on your Edit page at all, connected Stripe accounts are not switched on for your deployment. Everything still works; Noctern is simply collecting the money.

QuickBooks Online

Noctern syncs every ticket purchase and online donation to QuickBooks Online automatically. This is a single platform-wide connection managed by Noctern — there is no per-venue QuickBooks Online configuration for you to perform. If you have questions about how your sales appear there, ask Noctern support.

Separately, if you run QuickBooks Desktop, the Accounting → QuickBooks Desktop card on your Edit page maps each kind of money to one of your own accounts for the journal export. That one is yours to configure — see "QuickBooks Desktop journal".

Point of sale (bar sales import)

If your venue uses Square or Toast for bar sales and concessions, Noctern can import closed checks and attribute that revenue to the event that was on, for combined reporting.

Tell Noctern support which POS you run first. A Noctern admin records it for your venue, and that is what makes the Point of Sale card appear on AdminVenues[venue]Edit. The card then shows the connect controls for your POS and only yours:

  • Square connects with one Connect button via OAuth — see "Connecting your Square point of sale".
  • Toast has no OAuth flow, so you paste in read-only credentials Toast issues you — see "Connecting your Toast point of sale".

If you don't see a Point of Sale card at all, your POS hasn't been recorded yet. Once connected, bar sales appear alongside ticket revenue on the event's Bar Sales report.

Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes

Ticket confirmation emails include Add to Apple Wallet and Add to Google Wallet buttons, and both appear on a patron's My Tickets page. Patrons add the ticket to their phone and scan it at the door.

There is nothing for you to set up and nothing per-venue to turn on. Both are platform-level: each button appears only when Noctern's deployment has that wallet configured, and quietly does not appear when it hasn't. If your tickets are missing one of the buttons, ask Noctern support.

Printed tickets

Noctern prints to Boca thermal ticket printers from the Printing card on your Edit page — see "Printing Tickets on a Boca Printer".

Email sending domain

Confirmation and notification emails come from Noctern's email infrastructure by default. You can register your own domain yourself from the Email sending card on AdminVenues[venue]Edit, so every venue email — confirmations, reminders, receipts and campaigns — sends from your address instead. See "Sending email from your own domain".

Until you verify a domain, your Event Email (set in Venue Details) is used as the Reply-To address on confirmation emails so patrons can reach you directly.

X/Twitter and Facebook/Instagram (social publishing)

Connect social accounts in AdminVenues[venue]Edit under Social Accounts. X/Twitter connects immediately. Facebook and Instagram require Meta Business Verification approval first — Noctern support can guide you through that.
