When you create a campaign with the Simple audience mode, you choose one scope that describes which patrons should receive the email. Every scope automatically excludes patrons who have opted out of marketing email, bounced addresses, or spam-complained.
Available scopes
| Scope | Who it matches | |---|---| | All patrons | Every patron with a valid email address at this venue | | Donors (have given) | Patrons with a lifetime giving total above $0 | | Lapsed donors | Patrons who donated in a prior year but have not donated in the current calendar year (LYBUNT) | | Recurring donors | Patrons with an active recurring (sustainer) gift | | Ticket buyers | Patrons with at least one confirmed purchase at this venue | | Buyers of an event | Patrons who bought tickets to a specific performance β pick the occurrence from the dropdown | | By tag | Patrons who have been assigned a specific patron tag | | By location | Patrons filtered by state, city, or zip-code prefix | | By custom field | Patrons where a patron custom field matches a value you specify | | One household | All patrons who belong to a specific household |
Promoted event and exclusions
When you select a promoted event, a checkbox labelled Exclude buyers of this event appears and is checked by default. Leaving it checked removes anyone who already has a ticket to that performance from the recipient list, so you do not send a "buy tickets" message to someone who already bought.
One email per household
Below the audience picker, the One email per household toggle deduplicates recipients so each household receives only one message (sent to the primary contact's email). Enable this when you are sending to a family-oriented list and want to avoid duplicate emails to the same address or household.
For more complex targeting β combining scopes with include/exclude logic, or saving an audience for reuse β switch to Advanced mode. See Compound audiences and saved audiences.
