A deal is a performance contract between your venue and an artist. Noctern manages the full deal lifecycle: creation, artist signature, and post-show settlement.

Go to AdminVenues[venue]Deals to manage deals.

Deal types

| Type | How pay is calculated | |---|---| | Guarantee / Flat Fee | Artist receives a fixed dollar amount regardless of ticket sales | | Door Deal | Artist receives a percentage of door revenue | | Versus | Artist receives the greater of a guarantee or a percentage of door revenue | | Bonus | Base guarantee plus a bonus if revenue exceeds a threshold |

Creating a deal

  1. Go to AdminVenues[venue]Deals and click New deal.
  2. Select the Artist from your artist list, then select the Event from the event dropdown. The event's date populates automatically.
  3. Choose a Deal type and enter the financial terms.
  4. Optionally fill in the Day sheet sections — schedule (load-in, sound check, set time), hospitality, guest list, and production notes. These appear on the deal PDF the artist receives.
  5. Click Save. The deal is created in Draft status.
  6. Click Send for signature to generate a unique signing link. Copy and share it with the artist.

Artist signature

The artist receives the signing link and reviews the deal on a public page. They enter their name and click Sign to accept. The deal status changes to Signed and you receive a notification.

The signing link is unique and single-use. If the artist needs a new link, click Resend on the deal detail page.

Day sheet

The day sheet sections (schedule, hospitality, merch, billing, cancellation, production) are optional. Fill them in to give the artist a complete picture of the engagement. These sections appear on the deal PDF but do not affect the financial settlement.

| Section | Key fields | |---|---| | Schedule | Load-in, sound check, doors, set time, performance length | | Hospitality | Meals, drink tickets, green room, buyout amounts | | Merch | Venue percentage split, seller notes | | Support acts | Number of openers, selection rights | | Cancellation | Policy, low-sales threshold, force majeure |

Settlement

After the event, calculate the final payout:

  1. Open the deal and click Calculate settlement.
  2. Enter the actual door count and gross ticket revenue for the night.
  3. Noctern computes the artist's share based on the deal type and terms.
  4. Review the settlement summary and click Generate PDF to produce a settlement statement.
  5. Record the payment using the Record payment button (see Artist payments).

The settlement PDF can be emailed directly to the artist or downloaded for your records.
