The Noctern POS app is a native mobile app β separate from the Noctern website β built for door staff working an event in person. If you're standing at the door with a phone in your hand, this is the app you use.
What it's for
Scanning tickets. The app uses your phone's camera to scan QR codes faster than typing anything by hand.
Tap to Pay. Your phone's own NFC chip acts as a card reader β no separate hardware needed to take a contactless card or digital wallet payment.
Cash sales. Ring up a walk-up cash sale and issue a ticket on the spot.
The app connects using a per-event PIN β there's no username or password to remember on the device itself. See the next topic for how sign-in works.
What stays on the web
Some box office tasks are still web-only and aren't available in the POS app:
- Group sales (holds, deposits, invoices)
- Gift certificate adjustments or comps
- Patron lookup beyond a simple name/email search at checkout
- Reports
For those, use a browser and sign in to the admin dashboard as usual.
Getting the app
Search Noctern on the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) and install it on the device you'll use at the door.
The POS app shares ticket inventory with the web box office in real time. If a seat sells on the web, it becomes unavailable on the POS device immediately, and vice versa.
